Drop-Arm Awnings

Drop arm awnings are popular for windows, which is why they are sometimes called window awnings. These awnings are fully retractable, and can be motorized just like all of our other models. In fact, for higher installations motorization is recommended.

They are very versatile, because the angle of the arms dictates both the length of projection and the angle of the fabric. A drop arm awning that is extended slightly will shield the window from sunlight near the middle of the day without obscuring the view. When the drop arm is extended fully, it acts like an external blind.

An added benefit of using retractable awnings to shade windows is energy savings. The solar energy absorbed by the awning fabric is radiated outside, while blinds and tinted glass radiate that energy right into the buildings interior. Unlike blinds, drop arm awnings offer sun protection without limiting the view from a window.
